Blog & NewsDevialet has awarded the first Legendary Recording Award to the album "Héritage" released by the Fondamenta label.
"Héritage" is devoted to some of Sergei Rachmaninoff's works for two pianos, played by the pianists Frédéric D’Oria-Nicolas (named "Best New Classical Artist" by ADAMI and "2009 Artist of the Year" by Resmusica) and Alexander Kobrin (1st prize in the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition and Gold Medal in the 2005 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition).
This session was recorded in the Arsenal de Metz - considered to have one of the best acoustics in Europe - and required over two years of work: 12 pianos were tested in order to find the twin of an exceptional instrument that Frédéric D’Oria-Nicolas had played several years before. Two Devialet systems were used for recording and mastering and all of the microphone connections were optimised using over 126 metres of Absolue Creations cables, all hand-made.
While this album undeniably delivers one of the most exhilarating readings of these works, the recording itself achieves levels of precision, dynamics and realism of timbres that has rarely been equalled by a recording of this type. The result? An album that is simply phenomenal!
This album is now available in France and the United Kingdom, and will very soon be released in the United States and Canada.
